Thanks Mom Blog Hop

Welcome to the THANKS MOM BLOG HOP. Thanks for joining us to enjoy all the wonderful crafty inspiration in honor of mother's everywhere from the talented designers in this hop.

You should have arrived here from Cassie at Scrappin' Palace. If you missed the beginning of the hop, please go back to the start of the hop at Debbie at Debs Eclectic Thoughts to start so you don't miss any of the projects. There is a Grand Prize Blog Candy offered so you want to start at the beginning and read how to participate to win.
I chose to make a gift for my mom that reflects her interest and her at home business.  Most of the year my mom alters and repairs clothing.  She is an excellant semstress.  In fact she made my wedding dress.  During Homecoming Season for highschool football she makes Homecoming Mums (a Texas/Oklahoma thing).  She sells them to the students of local highschools to give to their sweeties.  She loves doing both.  For my project I made a lighted glass block that features both of these passions.  On one side is a dress form (cut from Summer in Paris) and her monogram "S" (cut from American Alphabet).  On the reverse side is the Eagle head (cut from Car Decals) and the word "EAGLES" (cut from the Lite cart Varsity).  I made the cuts from vinyl, stuck the vinyl on the glass and then frosted the glass using Armor Etch.  When the etching was complete I removed the vinyl and washed the glass.  I cut the monogram "S" again out of black high performance vinyl (because it is shiny) and blinged it out with hot fix gems.  I added lights inside the glass block and a ribbon around it.  I put it on a stand.  This is the first time I've made a glass block.  It was fun and I have several more in my mind that I can't wait to get started on.  Noticed today that they are 50% off through Saturday, May 7th at Hobby Lobby.
Check it out:

Here's a pic of my Wedding dress (and me as a bride 7 years ago) and
some of the great mums my mom makes. I'm very proud of both.

So, How about some blog candy...This is my first time to participate in a blog hop,
so there must be a give away.  I have chosen a stamp set from Pink by Design - Jump & Jive.
Please become a follower and leave a comment telling me either what you are doing special for your mom this year or what your favorite memory of her is.  If you don't have a mom (and some of us don't), please leave a comment about your favorite female role model.
I will chose the qualifying winner on Tuesday, 10th via Random.org, so please leave your comment before Midnight CST on 5/9.

Next on the journey is Heather at Paper Crafter Anonymous.  Thank you for stopping by.

Wow...love that glass block!! Your mom does an awesome job on the mums and your dress is so pretty!

For my mom, I have been giving her Cricut cartridges to build up her library so I am changing it up for Mother's Day. I am going to try to do one of those glasses with a loofa that I saw on one of the stops on this hop and I am giving her some money to pick out her bedding plants for her flower beds. She loves her flowers!!

So glad you joined us on the blog hop! Your lighted block is wonderful! My mom passed away many years ago and I really miss her on Mother's Day of course. I am proud to carry on many of the traditions started by my mom in my own family and that is how I honor her memory.

I love your glass etchings. Beautiful! My favorite memory of Mother's Day was with my Mom just before she passed away. She had a tea party for all of us (3 girls) and herself at a beautiful little restaurant that specializes in tea parties. It was so wonderful!

I'm a new follower.

What a neat glass block, I love the glass etching! Your mom is very talented, your dress is gorgeous!

All my mom ever wants is all her kids together, so the best thing we can give her, and all of us because its so fun to get together, is for all of us to go down with our kids and hang out at my parents house - it makes for a perfect day!

Wow...this project is so cool!
I've never even heard of this and am so excited to try it!
I wouldn't even know where to begin, but maybe I can find a tutorial or book on it or something.
Thank-you for showcasing it and giving me some great inspiration!
My Mom lives far away, so I sent her Roses for Mother's Day! My favorite memory of her is how funny she always was (and is!). She has a great sense of humor and was always laughing ALOT when I was a kid and that made me happy!
